I have received several invitations to play my music around Minnesota for August.
The first one is this Thursday at a restaurant outdoor patio called Harriet Brassiere.
I'm looking forward to it.
They're paying me tips and giving me a free dinner and free wine to drink.
I play from 6-8pm.
I could have said that I don't play for tips and dinner, but I love the feeling of being invited.
Invitations are a very encouraging thing when you're a musician.
They could have invited anybody else.
Maybe they did, and maybe I'm the only person who said yes...that's not entirely impossible.
But I want to believe they really want to hear my music.
I feel honored.
It helps that they're only a mile or two from my house.
It also helps that there aren't very many shows and I don't want to play on-line shows too often.
So this is a welcome opportunity.
I can and I probably will do at least one more porch concert at some point.
And I will probably see fit to play one more on line concert to reconnect with fans in Europe and the UK and other far away places.
Maybe in September.
In the meantime, I don't want to diminish my stock value by playing on patios for tips, but this was a nice invitation.
I'll give it a go and see how it feels.
I know how I want to feel when I play my music for people.
To some degree I can create that feeling whether I'm playing on a dock on a lake or in a church or in a pub or in a concert hall.
I want to feel that the words of the songs are being honored by me and by the listeners.
That's the bottom line.
Invitations to perform are something I'm so grateful for.
All things are mine for I am loved, how can I keep from singing?
