Today from 11-2pm in Ely, Minnesota I'm going to play my black Martin for the brunch set.
Is there a brunch set in Ely?
I think there must be because a lot of people I ran into on the street in town yesterday said they'd be coming to this.
What a great community of people here.
You just have to be of a very strong constitution, and with a brave heart and soul, to live year round here.
It's colder in Ely than in much of Canada because it's in the middle of the continent of North America, and up pretty close to the Canada border as well.
But it isn't on the Great Lakes, it's on the Boundary Waters canoe area which gets very cold because there isn't a massive body of water to help regulate the temperatures.
Ely is the town of canoe outfitters, of lumber yards, of wilderness guides and Steger mukluks, and brilliant Jim Brandenburg and his award winning wildlife photos.
It's a town of great live music, very grassroots stuff, and it's a town of fun restaurants and bars.
Great writers and poets live here.
It's just cool.
Cold, but cool.
So, I really don't want to leave but my life depends on my continuing my journey and I have many miles before I rest in a place like this some day.
This morning I'll tune up my guitar and play for them, straight through until 2pm.
I don't care about taking breaks, although I will of course.
It'll be great to be playing again.
I loved my show Friday night so much that I can't wait to play some more.
Okay, have a great Sunday, in Ely, or anywhere else in the world.
