going into the holidays

The last few weeks have been full of challenges and excitement.

I plan to put some of that down now and prepare for the holidays.

Today I am going to walk out to the woods along the Mississippi River in my long shearling coat and fur lined over the knee leather boots, with pruning clippers in hand, and find some wild grape vines to make into twig wreaths.

I'm going to walk up to the hardware store and buy two small packages of white lights to wrap around the wreaths.

Then I'm going to hang a wreath on the front of Rob's house and another one in back on his garage.

I'm very excited about this! I love taking myself out of the game and doing things that are purely for the pleasure of those I love most.

I'm getting ready to make the big turkey purchase as well.

Two of my three children are coming for the long weekend.

So much fun!

My middle daughter the animal lover is not coming because she has to drive with her two dogs from Denver in order to come home and she can't take that much time off from her work right now.

But we're planning on her being here for Christmas for ten days plus her two dogs plus her brother and sister, plus Rob and my dog Aidan. Christmas will be a full house!

SO much fun!

I like to make the turkey with sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roasted cauliflower, fresh cranberries, sweet potatoes with brown sugar and apricots.

A feast.

I'll make a homemade pumpkin pie too.

Two days later is Rob's birthday and we'll make a Shepard's Pie with the leftover turkey and stuffing, with a whole bag of frozen peas, all the rest of the gravy, and a top crust of the left over mashed potatoes. This is arguably the better of the two feasts. It's one of Rob's favorites.

I play a show in Northfield, solo, at The Tavern Lounge, in between these two big meals, on Saturday night the 24th.

That'll keep me from completely losing my edge in all this domestic bliss.

I hope you will be having a good week whatever you do as well.

This is the time for gratitude and I am all about it!

Here's one more photo from our successful Ruby Release Show this past weekend.
