back on line thank God

I realize more than ever that this blog is important to me.

The internet at Rob's house stopped working for about 36 hours so I missed making some posts, one or two.

It sucked.

I had written one and in the process of trying to figure out the internet situation that one was lost.

I'm not saying I put hours and hours into these things, I'm just saying that they come as little moments of inspiration and when it doesn't work or they get wrecked it sucks.

Okay so here's some stuff that didn't get said the last couple days.

One thing is that, of my supposed nearly five thousand friends on facebook and three thousand on twitter and two thousand on instagram, even allowing for massive overlap, only a handful of extremely kind and conscientious souls have donated to my gofundme campaign.

It's not lame or stupid or lazy or pathetic for somebody like me to ask for donations to do this kind of traveling to promote my music.

You know why I feel confident enough to say that?

Because I am giving a lot, every day, in return.

When I think about people talking about "the failing New York Times" I get so sad.

When I buy my six dollar Sunday New York Times and read all the articles and immerse myself in all that culture and glory from all over the world, I think that all those articles and gorgeous on location photos and reports should cost so much more!

I should be paying a hundred dollars every time I get to soak up the world that way.

Come on people!

What the fuck.

The artists and writers and musicians are bringing all we got to the game.

My daughter and I leave on Tuesday.

We think we can get by on one hundred dollars a day with food, gasoline to drive many hours, and a Motel 6 for the night.

No we don't have extra money saved up for this.

We do the best we can.

I have applied for some grants and if one of those comes through this Spring, then everything will be cool again for a while. Nina my oldest daughter has applied for a music grant and was just notified that she's made it to the next round, very exciting.

If I get a book deal for my three additional manuscripts...

If I get a record deal for the new cover tunes album....

Otherwise, it's show by show, cd sale by cd sale.

A super awesome fan and friend just bought me 40 copies of my Sidney first novel to sell at my shows.

If people buy those, that will help a lot.

One more thing, one of my favorite female friends took me out for lunch last week and made a donation for our tour through Paypal (not the gofundme site by her preference).

I brought to the lunch the six little handmade books I had on hand at the time.

I told her she could pick one for being so nice and taking me for lunch and everything.

She said she didn't want to pick one, she wanted them all.

She said she'd buy them all from me right then.

I knew that this meant I'd have to start over from scratch making a set for the tour, but hey, without gas money there ain't gonna be no tour, so I agreed and she bought the set and tucked it into her purse.

I love thinking that someone in this world has a set of six of those little books, all with the butterfly sticker, each one a different title and topic.

It's a delightful thing to own, I truly think.

I'm making more. So far I have two.......I want to have twenty by the time we head out on tour....that's in two days.

In the meantime, please consider a donation, especially if you enjoy this daily blog, which I do for free, needless to say.

And remember that the more you give the more you receive...cuz that's actually true.
